ITIMPI TO HAVE $300,000 NEW CLINIC

By NATION REPORTER A UNITED States based Christian organisati­on will spend more than US$300,000 on the constructi­on of a modern clinic in Zambia Compound of Itimpi ward in Kitwe.

Mission Regan Executive Director Josh Willis said his organisati­on's decision to construct a modern clinic was to enable the people in the area access quality medical care.

Mr Josh said a United Kingdom contractor, Bill Hebnek Innovation­s, would carry out the work.

He was speaking during the ground breaking ceremony in Itimpi.

He said the constructi­on was expected to commence in the next six months and would be completed next year.

"We used to come here once a year to treat people for various diseases, but now, we have decided to construct a modern clinic so that we bring health services closer to the people.

"Once this clinic is constructe­d, there will be no need for people to travel long distances to seek medical services. We are not doing this for the councillor or for ourselves, but for the love of God. So more than US$300,000 will be spent on the constructi­on of this clinic," Mr Josh said.

Mr Josh said containers carrying various consignmen­t of medicines would soon arrive at the site where the clinic would be constructe­d.

He said previously, the organisati­on used Life-song school as a place to treat people for various diseases like malaria, dental problems and others.

And speaking later, Itimpi ward Councillor Mpasa Mwaya said she was grateful that Mission Regan had decided to construct a clinic in order to bring medical services closer to the people.

Ms Mwaya said this was a A modern clinic in Itimpi will enable the residents access quality medical care clear indication of the Church’s commitment to working with government in bringing health service closer to the people.

"So stakeholde­rs like Mission Regan are genuine stakeholde­rs and they make sure that as they preach the word of God, they are practical in terms of helping the vulnerable. As you know, faith without action is nothing," Ms Mwaya said.
