PROTECT EXAMINATION SYSTEM, URGES BETUZ
THE Examination Council of Zambia (ECZ) should come up with a proper mechanism to prevent hacking of the examination system, the Basic Education Teachers Union of Zambia (BETUZ) has said.
BETUZ general secretary Jeffrey Simunthala said there was need for stringent measures to be instituted to curb hacking of the examination system if Zambia was to achieve quality education.
He said in an interview that ECZ was doing well, but that it was important it engaged other stakeholders to ensure the examination system was safe.
Mr Simunthala said education should be credible and of high standard for Zambia to develop.
And Mr Simunthala has said that BETUZ had bought 120 motorbikes to enable union leaders reach members in remote areas.
He noted that many schools were situated in rural areas, making it difficult for the teachers to be easily reached.
Mr Simunthala said the union had also bought four-wheel drive vehicles and distributed them to all the 10 provinces for easy mobility when resolving challenges affecting its members.
“It is our commitment to represent our members at every school regardless of the place to ensure every area is reached," he said.
He explained that the union had zoned the hard-to-reach areas in all the districts, for easy access and service delivery to members.
“We want our leadership to move quickly and resolve challenges that our teachers are facing in areas that cannot be easily reached,” he said.
And Mr Simunthala said BETUZ was determined to effectively represent its members countrywide and ensure that their rights were protected.
