PF victorious in Eastern Province
THE Patriotic Front (PF) has emerged victorious in Eastern Province in elections for council chairpersons’ office in the newly created districts. PF Provincial chairperson Andrew Lubusha said the ruling party had been working to deliver development across the country. Mr Lubusha explained that PF had anchored its development agenda on the Seventh National Development Plan (7NDP) which among other issues strives to balance inequalities. “The just-ended council chairperson elections are a true reflection of the people’s appreciation of what President Lungu is doing to develop the country. “Winning all seats in Lumezi, Lusangazi, Chasefu, Chipangali and Kasenengwa was not by chance but rather a confirmation that we are working for the people,” Mr Lubusha tsaid. Meanwhile, results from the Eastern Province’s five districts are as follows: In Chipangali Million Tembo of PF bagged 7 024, followed by William Banda, UPND, with 762 while UPPZ’s Dave Kapwata got 487 votes. In Kasenengwa, Saul Zulu of PF got 5, 942 ahead of Peter Mwenda of UPND who had 1 207 votes. In Lusangazi, PF’s William Banda won with 2380 while Robert Mwale of UPND trailed with 119, Independent Tembo Blackson walked away with 1, 186 and Patrick Banda also an Independent candidate got 1 290 votes. In Chasefu, Chimwemwe Banda of PF won with 6 439 votes followed by Thokoza Ndhlovu Independent with 2 147, Bernard Zulu of UPND got 799 while Davies Nyirongo of FDD had 644 votes. And in Lumezi, Clement Mwale of PF secured victory with 6 860 votes while Jimmy Phiri, Independent had 1, 341 and Marjorie Mumpanshya of UPND got 795 votes.
