HH warned: Stop your bitterness
HAKAINDE Hichilema should not let bitterness control him and must use sober language when referring to President Edgar Lungu to promote unity and peace being advocated under the proposed dialogue process.
Zambia Republic Party (ZRP) president Wright Musoma warned Mr Hichilema to desist from provocative language when the nation was striving to organise peace talks just because he was bitter.
Mr Musoma was reacting to Mr Hichilema’s reference to the President as a joker and accused him of not being serious with development.
“This country needs development not jokes. When you have a president who is not serious and just jokes, you cannot have development,” Mr Hichilema was quoted as saying.
Mr Hichilema also attacked the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) as a failed institution that had lost the confidence of the public.
He claimed that President Lungu had sent soldiers to stop the UPND rally in Kanyama when the Patriotic Front were holding theirs in Mandevu on Monday.
“He went and sent military men in a civilian Kanyama environment to stop us from having a rally when he was supposed to be in Mandevu, we didn’t go to Mandevu to disturb him he went to Kanyama to disturb us so where is the spirit of seriousness?,” Mr Hichilema had said.
However, Mr Musoma said “Calling President Lungu a joker by Mr Hichilema does not surprise us in anyway because he is a joker himself by saying that.”
In an interview with the Daily Nation Mr Musoma said he was not shocked with Mr Hichilema’s attacks on the ECZ and the President because he was still hang up on the 2016 elections whose defeat he had failed to accept.
“Hakainde Hichilema comment does not surprise us in anyway because he is a bitter person ever since he lost the 2016 elections,” Mr Musoma said.
He however, cautioned Mr Hichilema to be careful with what he says because that was what cost him elections. “His bitterness does not endear him to people, it repels peace loving Zambians,” he said.
He said that the Patriotic Front’s win in the mayoral election had proven the love that the people have for the party.
“Zambian people know that President Lungu is humble, hardworking and works for the people,” Mr Musoma said.
Mr Musoma saluted every candidate for participating in the mayoral elections and also saluted Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for the professionalism the commission portrayed during the mayoral elections.
