VILLAGERS TICK-OFF ‘ABSENTEE’ MP

- By NATION REPORTER

OUR Member of Parliament is an absentee lawmaker who does not even know the sufferings of his people, residents of Bombwe Constituency in Chief Musokotwane's area have charged.

According to the residents, the last time their Katombola MP Derrick Livune visited the area was during the campaigns in 2016.

The villagers have charged that despite many calls to the lawmaker to visit the area by some headmen, Mr. Livune has literary forgotten about the people who voted for him.

Speaking in an interview the on Wednesday, Bombwe Women Club secretary Rosemary Mumbe observed that it was difficult to understand why politicians always made promises they could not fulfil. "During elections, the MP and his people were here begging for votes from us but today, they are nowhere to be seen,"

"They promised us a clinic, boreholes and telecommunication towers but there is nothing.

We live like animals and only by the grace of God do we survive," complained Ms. Mumbe. She accused the MP and the UPND team that went to campaign in the area during the 2016 general elections of being liars.

And Janet Makumbwa, a member of the women’s club complained that Bombwe was one of the neglected areas by the government. Ms. Makumbwa observed that for a long time, people in the area have been subjected to sufferings despite having political representative.
