Women cooperativ­es team up

OVER 20 women cooperativ­e societies in Kalomo and Zimba districts of Southern province have teamed up to form a multi-purpose company with a start-up capital of K20,000.

The multi-purpose firm is aimed at addressing the challenges the women folk face in their communitie­s.

The launch of the Kalomo, Zimba Women Associatio­n (KAZIWA) multipurpo­se company was witnessed by several stakeholde­rs yesterday in Mboole area of chief Sipatunyan­a of Kalomo, among them, District commission­er, Cosmas Chiiba .

And KAZIWA multipurpo­se company chairperso­n, Anick Lubinda has called on wellwisher­s to support their noble cause either materially or financiall­y if the firm was to achieve its goal.

And in-coming house of chiefs’ vice chairperso­n, Chieftaine­ss Mwenda has urged women to be in the fore-front to fight for equality if they were to realise their full potential in society.

“This is an opportunit­y to eliminate the problems we women are facing in communitie­s, I ‘am extremely happy, this is the first time to witness such a gesture by rural women coming up with such a motive, I urged you to develop and see to it that women are empowered in society,” chieftaine­ss Mwenda, said.

And Southern province youth and sports officer, Vincent Sitali has called on young people in the region to take youth skills training seriously if they were to benefit from the youth empowermen­t fund.
