‘HH TO QUIT POLITICS’

- By NATION REPORTER

UPND president Hakainde Hichilema will quit politics before 2021, Southern Province Minister Edify Hamukale has predicted.

Dr. Hamukale said that the current election losses the party has continued to suffer would eventually force HH to quit politics.

“Mr. Hichilema will have no one to lead because many of his followers will leave the party due to his poor leadership and this will force him to quit politics,” said Dr Hamukale.

Addressing journalists in Livingstone at the weekend, Dr. Hamukale said that people’s eyes have begun to open and they could not continue to support the visionless UPND.

“In UPND, only one individual is allowed to grow while others are made to wait. But in PF, President Edgar Lungu allows us speak our hearts out and he allows us to grow,

“The people of Southern Province should begin to own the Patriotic Front like in other provinces, it is your party and President Lungu and Vice President Inonge Wina will be very happy to see you join PF,” he said.

The provincial minister said that soon, he would be inviting the President or Ms Wina to come to Southern Province to receive defectors from UPND.

Dr Hamukale further said that he foresaw a situation where by 2021, UPND may not have a single seat in Parliament because everyone would have joined PF.

“The victory by PF in the just ended local government by-election is a testimony that the ruling party is growing; it is getting appreciated by the people because of its pro-poor policies. It is also meeting the needs of the people,” said Dr. Hamukale,

“I want to appeal to the youths and the rest of the people in Southern Province who have patriotism in their hearts to come and join the ruling party. I have been receiving a lot of phone calls from people wanting to join the Patriotic Front, they are very much welcome,” he said.

He said it was a fact that UPND will not form government in 2021 because the party was fast losing grip in its all strongholds.

He said the PF was the only party that had the national character and as such youths in the province should quickly join the ruling party.
