70 firms eye Luapula

THE fruits of the investment expo that was held in Luapula Province will soon begin to materialis­e as over 70 local and internatio­naO firPs Kave expressed interest to set up investment­s.

Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa said he was confident that soon the region would be a host to many big investment­s.

Mr Chilangwa called for patience as people wait for the full benefits of hosting the Luapula Expo and Investment Conference held in July last year.

“Just a pinch of patience please, fruits of expo are coming soon,” Mr Chilangwa said.

The Luapula Province administra­tion held the Expo and Investment Conference whose aim was to expose the massive investment potential,

Mr Chilangwa said that over 70 local and internatio­nal companies had expressed interest in investing in the province with a reasonable number already setting up businesses.

During a meeting with Mwata Kazembe of the Lunda people, Mr. Chilangwa called for patience as the fruits of the expo would be seen in the next 30 or so months.

He said companies such as Mansa Sugar, Kawambwa Sugar, Sunbird, GED Africa, Mansa Chilli, ZAFFICO and others had escalated their activities in the province.

Mr Chilangwa said the Luapula Expo which focused on seven key investment areas such as energy, aquacultur­e, agricultur­e, mining, tourism and forestry had lived up to its intended purpose.
