Vandals will meet wrath of law - MP

CHIMWEMWE Member of Parliament Mwila Mutale has said enemies of developmen­t who want to vandalise and steal public property will face the wrath of the law.

Mr Mutale said in .itwe that the government and partners in developmen­t were spending a lot of money on putting up infrastruc­ture.

+e warned, that vandals of such infrastruc­ture would face the conseTuenc­es of their actions.

7he MP was speaking in ,timpi ward where a 8nited 6tates &hristian organisati­on, Mission Regan, announced the 86 , worth constructi­on of a modern clinic.

³:hen the constructi­on of the clinic starts, we expect local people, particular­ly in Zambia &ompound to be employed, but we don¶t want to hear that some people are stealing constructi­on materials from here.

³7hose who will be found stealing materials will not be protected. ,f one of you is arrested by the police, we will not sign a police bond or bail for you, but we will ensure that you face the wrath of the law for your actions,” Mr Mutale said.

And residents of Zambia &ompound said they were happy that Mission Regan had decided to embark on a proMect to construct a modern clinic to bring healthy services closer to the community.

One resident, Idah Banda, said they were also impressed that from the time councillor Mwaya Mpasa was elected, she has brought hope to the area by lobbying and facilitati­ng for developmen­tal proMects in the area.

Ms Banda said despite the area facing challenges, Ms Mpasa had brought hope by improving infrastruc­ture like roads.

She said Ms Mpasa was setting the stage for developmen­t in the area by lobbying for infrastruc­ture developmen­t like road rehabilita­tion, constructi­on of a police 6tation and houses for police officers.

Agnes &hibuye said the ward councilor was also a humble person with respect to people regardless of their status in society.
