Ex PF mayoral aspirant pours praise on Sampa

- By NATION REPORTER

WE campaigned, canvassed for votes, and secured the election of Miles Sampa as Lusaka mayor even when we were fighting for adoption on the same ticket, former mayoral aspirant Francis Muchemwa has said. In his congratulatory message to Mr. Sampa yesterday, Mr. Muchemwa said there was nothing more rewarding to belonging to the PF than securing a sweeping victory in a cosmopolitan city like Lusaka.

He also observed that the ruling party’s successes in other by-elections was testimony of strength.

He said unlike other mayoral faithfuls who wanted to stand on the PF ticket who retreated after being left out, he did not cry foul over the adoption of Mr. Sampa.

He said he was excited with Mr. Sampa’s victory not only because he campaigned for him, but because he was sure that he will continue raising the PF flag high by delivering according to the promises he made to the electorate.

“I wish to congratulate all party members and the leadership of our great party for the commendable job done during the campaigns leading to Thursday’s local Government by-elections and the resounding victory of Mr. Sampa which I’ am particularly excited about because I was part of the campaign team.

“While our colleagues who were not adopted on the PF ticket took a low profile and boycotted, some of us whom they thought would do the same, went flat-out to campaign for him and that is what makes me more proud about this victory.

He said going by Thursday’s election, it was clear that the PF was headed for a landslide victory but warned against complacency as a lot of things could change between now and the next election.

He called upon all party functionaries to ensure that they maintained the momentum so that it continued attracting more members from the opposition.
