VJ misleading the nation -Musoma

-

Mr Musoma has challenged Dr Mwaanga to produce evidence of people jailed for expressing their opinions because he was living proof that dissenting views are condoned in the country.

Commenting on Dr. Mwaanga’s statement that silencing and jailing those with different views had become a norm in Zambia, Mr. Musoma wondered why he was not in jail himself despite his “continued quacking” about imaginary deteriorating democracy in Zambia.

He said it was sad that Dr. Mwaanga had decided to allow himself to be used by the UPND under the disguise that he was speaking as an elder statesman when his agenda was visible for all to see that he had become a cadre speaking for the opposition.

He said it was disappointing that Dr. Mwaanga, who had laboured since he was 21 to build a strong and reputable political image for himself, had reduced himself to a political stooge by allowing himself to be used as a puppet just at the sunset of his political life by “small boys” who had no clear understanding of politics.

He said in the midst of political misdirection and immaturity among opposition political party leaders, Zambians expected people like Dr. Mwaanga to rise above partisan politics and offer credible counsel for the sake of maintaining =ambian’s flourishing democracy.

“Being a senior citizen, we expect him to be giving counsel to young politicians so that they can go back to issue-based politics and not the hate-speech, namecalling, tribalism, and the antagonism they have towards those in power,” Mr. Musoma warned.

He said Zambia was known as a beacon of peace in Africa and a reference point where democracy was flourishing as citi]ens’ freedom of speech had not been taken away and that it would be important for the same citizens to be careful not to tarnish the good image the country had built for itself by desisting from careless talk.
