‘HH rejected’

- By NATION REPORTER

IT is absolutely clear that Zambians have rejected Hakainde Hichilema (HH) following the humiliating defeat in last week’s by –elections and the party Pust taNe a deep reÀection oYer its leadership and usher in new leaders.

Former deputy UPND spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo said that all could see that HH had become a liability to the opposition party.

He told Daily Nation in an interview that the sooner the UPND woke up and realized that its leadership was failing them, the quicker they should go for the convention to choose new leadership. Mr Lifwekelo further advised that at the convention they should push for a vote of no confidence against HH.

He explained that if they did not go for the convection and continued thinking that HH was the one making President Lungu to have sleepless nights then they are in for a rude shook as they will continue losing as they had done in the just ended by elections.

He wondered how UPND could have lost so main seats when they claimed that they were popular.

He said when the party was under the leadership of Mr Anderson Mazoka the party never lost any seat.

Mr Lifwekelo also explained that the ‘Panga for Panga’ message that UPND vice president Geoffrey Mwamba was preaching was also one of the reasons why they lost because Zambians hated violence

“Their ‘Panga for Panga’ message scared people in the first place because GBM made it clear that they will carry pangas to defend themselves,

“Just that statement helped the Zambians realise that the UPND did not mean well for the people of the country and they stayed away from voting because Zambians are not known for violence,” Mr Lifwekelo said.

He explained that in the last council elections PF got 13 out of 14 after taking the Chilanga parliamentary and council chairmanship seats.
