‘DON’T DRAG CHITIMUKULU INTO POLITICS’

- By NATION REPORTER

IT is wrong for anyone to drag Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba people into politics because the chieftaincy is a respected and sacred institution with no political bias, PF national youth executive committee member Francis Kapyanga has said.

Mr Kapyanga said in an interview that it was unfortunate that the UPND was sponsoring people from Mungwi to rise against Chitimukulu to advance their political interests in Bemba land.

“Traditional leaders play a vital role in the development agenda of the nation as well as fostering unity and preserving the cultural heritage.

“Therefore, it is appalling to note that despite Mwinelubemba being a respected and sacred institution of chieftaincy which has never taken any political sides, the UPND is sponsoring people against him to advance their political interests in the Bembaland.’’Mr Kapyanga said

Mr Kapyanga said UPND must keep Chitimukulu out of its tribal politics or get thrown into the political furnace by his subjects who cannot tolerate insults against their ruler.

Mr Kapyanga said UPND vice president for administration Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba must sober up and stop trying to please his newly found friend and master who is a well-known champion of tribal politics.

He advised the UPND and Mr Mwamba not to take tribal politics to the Northern Province because northerners respect the traditional leadership and unity.

Mr Kapyanga said traditional leaders were there to guide the nation and therefore should not be dragged into politics.
