HAKAINDE Hichilema is nto going anywhere and will nto resign from the par ty just because of the elections defeat by the Patriotic Front( PF ), says United Party for National developmen­t( UP ND) spokespers­on Char les Kak om a.

And MrKako ma said that UPND was not the na med o position political party after the life of the Bemba paramount chief, Chi ti mu ku lu because he was not the party’ s competitor.

He told Daily Nation that the voter apathy that character is ed the just-ended elections was the reason for UPND’s por performanc­e in the polls.

MrKakomare­i te rated that the election defeat had not hi ng to do with the quality of leadership in the party.

He said that the calls for the UPND president Mr Hi chile ma to resign were mis placed, as he was managing the party very well.

MrKao mk a said Mr Hi chile ma was not going anywhere and would notre sign from UPND just be cause of the elections defeat.

“Ha kain de is not going anywhere, he has done nothing wrong to warrant, his resignatio­n. The low voter turnout is what made UPND lose the recent elections, not the leadership.

Mr Kakom a also accused the ruling party of championin­g calls for the UPND top ass a vote of no confidence in Mr Hichi lema.

He reiterated that the ruling party was afraid of facing Mr Hichi lema in the 2021 ge ne ral elections .

Meanwhile, MrKako ma distance d the UPND from claims that a named political party was after the Chi timukul u.

He said that UPND was not after the traditiona­l leader because he was not its competitor. MrKako ma questioned what the UPND would gain by eliminatin­g a chief, saying that he was not part of the people theo position party wanted to replace.

“We have no interest in eliminatin­g a chief. chief Chi timukul u is not pa rt of the people we want to replace. Even if he is eliminated, there will be another chief who will replace him. So what will be our interest to eliminate him ?” he questioned.
