PAYMENT OF TEACHERS’ PRACTICING CERTIFICATE FEES STAGGERED
…for those teachers who may be interested in the new arrangement
PRACTICING certificates for teachers in government sc ho ls can now be paid for in three inst al ments Teaching Council of Zambia( T CZ) registrar Ebby Mu bang a has announced.
Dr Muba nga said the move had been taken to reduce pressure on the salaries of teachers woh were made to pa y the fees ina lumps um.
He said however that those who want ed to pa y the fees in one instalment were free to do so.
He told journalists at a press briefing in Lusaka yesterday that following requests from various stakeholders to consider part payments for the documents, th eTC Z had agreed to sta ger payments in three installments deducted from the payroll.
“In view of requests to consider inst al ment payments, the TCZ has made payroll deduction arrangements with Payroll Management Establishment Control to make three deductions in respect of practicing certificates for our members who maybe interested in this arrangement” Dr Muba nga said.
Dr Muba nga how eve r said some selected private sc ho ls may also be considered for the same arrangement, but they needed to engage th eTC Z directly.
Dr Muba nga said the District Education Boa rd Secretary (DEBS) offices countrywide had full details of the modalities for the planed payroll deductions.
He also said that out of 133, 190 teachers that had been registered by the council ,19,000 had a plied for practicing certificates, which meant that the majority of those that were registered were yet to lodge in their apl ications .
And Dr Mu bang a advised members of the public and other stakeholders not to take social media reports reag rdignt eh council’ s operations.
He advised TCA members and other stakeholders not to receive social media information as the gospel truth.
“I wish to advise our members not tobe misled by social media postings regarding the TCZ ope rations .
Th eTC Z is a credible professional institution which takes pleasure in dealing with other credible and trace able institutions ,” Dr Mu bang a said.
Dr Mubanga also reaffirmed the TCZ’s commitment towards the operational is at ion of the Teaching Profession Act of Parliament number 5 of 2013 which mandated it to regulate the teachers, their practice and professional conduct from both public and private sectors.
Teachers holding certificates were required to pay K 750, those with diploma sK 900, while degree holders were expected to pay K 1,200 for prac- ticing certificates which were valid for three years.
Thereafter, teachers would be expected to renew their documents after an accumulation of Continuous Professional Development credits points.
