ZAMBIA ON THE MOVE

Dear Editor, WH EN President Michael Chilufya Sata (MHSRIP) passed away, most Zambians were ZRUUied aERXt ZKR ZRXld fill the void left by the “m an of action.”

Luckily, Zambians have another man of action in President Edgar Chagwa Lungu who in his short stay in power has continued to take development to all parts of the country.

Right now, there is no part in Zambia where there are no infrastructure deYeloSment SroMects

With the reported release of funds for SroMects aboYe 0 Sercent completion, we expe ct lots of actiYit\ on man\ stalled SroMects )or e[amSle here in 6erenMe maMor stalled SroMects include construction of four secondary schools, a police camp, houses for securit\ Sersonnel and 1 7 kilometres of township roads.

There are also several agriculture and enerJ\ SroMects JoinJ on 2nce comSleted 6erenMe will never be the same.

/ike the late 3resident 6ata President Lungu is also a peace lover.

0r 6ata lost elections seYeral times but not once did he call for violence. Now we hear of “panga for panga.”

President Lungu has been preaching peace since he came to power and he walks the talk.

Look at that memorable hand shake with leaders of opposition parties during the burial of gallant freedom fiJhter 'aniel 0unkombwe 0+65,3

Many an African leader would have rebuffed his foes. President Lungu has even welcomed dialogue.

And the reduced tension between PF and UPND is a step in the right direction.

The leadership of both parties deserve kudos because national development can only take place where there is peace.

2n Mob creation Jone are the days when people only looked to white collar Mobs

The arrival of new districts is definitel\ creatinJ emSlo\ment in many sectors.

And when you add the goings on in aJriculture fisheries and livestock, the various infrastructure construction activities, you clearly see that the PF manifesto and the 7th 1ational 'eYeloSment Plan are at work.

And the popularity of the rulinJ Sart\ 3) is on the rise contrary to some critics.

In a democracy, elections are a barometer of popularity. That there was apathy in the recent by elections can be interpreted as “silence means consent.”

People are content with the status quo and have always voted massively when they want change like in 191 a nd 2011 elections.

Zambia is certainly on the move. Austerity measures may hurt but we need to swallow bitter pills to heal our economy. FRANCIS KALIPENTA, Serenje.
