Teachers sharpen rugby refereeing, coaching skills

T:E1T< teachers are under-going the refereeing and coaching courses organised by the Zambia 5ugby 8nion Z58 in partnershi­p with %hubesi Pride )oundation.

7his is in a bid to improve the standards of the game at grassroots level.

7he four day programme which started on 7uesday at *reen Eagles Rugby Club in .abwe has attracted teachers from three secondary schools, five primary schools and seven private schools including three orphanages.

Event organi]er and *et ,nto Rugby Zambia 3roMect manager 7om Chaloba expressed happiness with the response from the community.

³Our game has been on an upward trend in terms of growth and publicity, this can be attributed to the good worNing relationsh­ip with line personnel such as Ministry of Education, Ministry of <outh and 6ports and the hard worNing media personalit­ies from radio, television and print outlets, ³ he said.

+e implored people willing to get involved in rugby to contact the ZR8 for guidance and direction on setting up structures.

³7he Zambia Rugby 8nion has made a deliberate strategy of growing the game by empowering people who are worNing with the grassroots such as teachers and community volunteers. 7o this effect, we want to salute all our rugby volunteers for their dedication and passion beyond the call of duty, our success is incomplete without the volunteers,´ he said.
