DO not pay for land until you verify ownership, Lands and Natural Resources Minister Jean Kapata has told Zambians.

Ms Kapata advised the public to enquire from the ministry each time they want to buy land.

She said the ministry had all information regarding land and was best placed to advise people on land.

The minister was speaking to journalists in Lusaka yesterday after touring the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources stand at the 92nd Agriculture and Commercial Show in Lusaka.

“I want to inform the nation that each time you are buying land, please do not pay for that piece of land, come and verify at the ministry because we have all the information.

“Do not just buy land from vendors, come to our ministry and we will be able to give you the details of that land,” Ms Kapata said.

And Ms Kapata disclosed that her ministry raised over K65, 000 through consideration fees for land titles during the Show.

She said the ministry received massive response in terms of people paying consideration fees. She also indicated that her ministry had embarked on a sensitisation programme to educate the public on how to obtain title deeds.

She said her ministry was going round the country to educate people on the matter.
