Imbecile defiler jailed 20 years
A Mungule 35 YEAR-OLD area north man of of Lusaka 20 years has imprisonment been sentenced with to hard 15-year-old labour imbecile. for defiling a
Saidi Zulu, who pleaded not guilty to the offence was convicted and sentenced by the Lusaka High Court after being found guilty of defiling the minor who he knew was an imbecile.
High Court judge in-charge Gertrude Chawatama said the offence was a serious one and that the perpetrator needed to be punished.
Particulars are that Zulu on September 5, 2017 in Lusaka, had unlawful carnal knowledge of the juvenile.
The mother of the girl, a businesswoman of Mungule area told the court that she had gone out for a meeting and left the victim and her young brother at home.
The mother testified that when she got back from the meeting, she heard her daughter coming from the neighbour’s house crying with bruises on her body.
The mother testified that her daughter told her that Zulu had come home and had carnal knowledge of her.
The victim’s mother narrated that informed when her of what her transpired, daughter she checked her private part and found some mucus-like discharge coming out. “I checked my daughter after she told me of the incident and found mucus-like discharge coming out from her private part, and later went to confront Zulu who was taking some beer at the tavern next to my house,” she said. She said when she confronted Zulu, he denied having had carnal knowledge of her daughter. She told the court that her daughter said it was the third time such an incident happened with the accused. And when the victim testified, she disputed Zulu’s allegation that it was the stepfather who had carnal knowledge of her. She testified that Zulu came home and grabbed her from the grass thatched kitchen outside where she was cooking from and took her in the house where he had carnal knowledge of her. She told the court that after having carnal knowledge of her, he sat in the sitting room and asked for water to drink. She said it was the third time the accused had carnal knowledge of her and that she could not scream because there was loud music playing at the nearby taverns.
