AfDB water sanitation project to aid 4uchinga towns

Nakonde and Mpika in will benefit from an Africa Development Bank water supply and sanitation funded project.

Ministry of Water 'evelopment, Sanitation and (nvironmental Protection Public relations Officer Amos Zulu said this in a statement.

Mr. Zulu said the Ministry ohas engaged a consultant to review the designs of the 8S'150M proMect dubbed, ,ntegrated Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation ProMect , targeting four provinces.

Mr Zulu said the African 'evelopment %anN funded proMect will include the rehabilitation and construction of new reservoirs and water networN facilities, construction and rehabilitation of sewer networNs.

µ¶MpiNa and 1aNonde are set to benefit from the African 'evelopment %anN Water Supply and sanitation funded proMect to be rolled out soon,¶¶ Mr Zulu said

Mr Zulu said once completed Chambeshi Water and Sewerage is expected to improve its financial viability as their customer base is also expected to increase there by extending its coverage of water and sanitation services.

+e said about 0,000 people in MpiNa and 1aNonde 'istricts would benefit from the proMect once completed.

Mr. Zulu said close to 9 0,000 people in 1orthern, Luapula and Western Provinces are also set to benefit from improved health through access to clean and safe drinNing water and sanitation services.

Mr. Zulu said *overnment is committed to ensuring that there was 100 percent access to safe and clean water and ninety percent access sanitation services by 20 0.
