NGO to construct teacher’s house
RESPONSE Network, a non-governmental organization (NGO) of Livingstone has offered to construct a teacher's house at Naloombe Community School in Chief Musokotwane chiefdom of Kazungula district.
Acting school head teacher Asco Chifumpu told the Daily Nation in Livingstone that the organization has already delivered building materials for the project.
He said that was the second infrastructure which the NGO had embarked on to supplement government's efforts to provide quality education.
Mr Chifumpu said last year, the organisation built a 1x2 classroom block which has since been handed over to the community.
“We are so grateful to Response Network for coming to our aid. Last year, they built one by two classroom block for us which we have started using,
“This time around, they are building a staff house and materials have already been delivered to the site. They are going to pay the contractor,” said Mr. Chifumpu.
He said that the community would provide labour to help the contractor make blocks for the planned house.
Naloombe Community School is one of the remotest schools in Kazungula district with thatched classrooms.
Mr. Chifumpu said apart from that, Response Network had also extended its support to the school by providing feeding programmes to pupils.
Response Network has operations in Livingstone, Kazungula and Zimba districts.
