MUFULIRA POISED FOR GROWTH AFTER ROAD LINK
MUFULIRA is likely to become strategic for economic development if warehouses are constructed for the storage of goods entering Zambia through Nakonde border following government's decision to connect Northern to Luapula and Copperbelt provinces by road.
Mufulira Mayor *ift Mushinge said the rehabilitation of the 1aNonde Mbala stretch, Mbala Kasama road and the Kasama Luwingu road has linNed the three provinces well.
+e said the Luwingu Mansa road leads into Mufulira through pedicle and could play a vital role in reviving the economic status of the mining town.
Mr Mushinge said in an interview yesterday that once warehouses or depots were constructed in Mufulira, people would be coming from various districts to buy goods in the established storage facilities.

And Mr Mushinge has also urged (x miners in Mufulira who have been given land to start producing food which would contribute to food security and poverty alleviation.
+e said a well developed agriculture sector could produce sufficient food to meet the demands of the local and international marNet, especially the neighbouring 'emocratic Republic of Congo 'RC .
,f they are producing a lot of food, they will be selling it locally and in the 'RC. ,n this manner, they can grow big and create employment for the local people. So ,f everybody is contributing towards reviving the economy of Mufulira, then things will move smoothly,'' he said. Mr Mushinge, who is also Patron of ex miners in Mufulira called for the speedy processing of offer letters.
