‘CHURCH NEEDS TIME TO PLAN DIALOGUE PROCESS’

- By NATION REPORTER

GIVE the church mother bodies in Zambia sufficient time to plan and seek spiritual guidance on national dialogue to deliver the desired results, the National House of Prayer (NHoP) has urged political players.

NHoP chairman, Bishop Dr Joshua Banda said that the dialogue process should be politicised because it was a matter that required spiritual guidance. Bishop Banda was reacting to concerns over the pace at which the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB), Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) and Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) was moving in handling the national dialogue.

He told journalists in Lusaka that NHoP was in full support of the steps being undertaken by the leaders in the three church mother bodies.

Bishop Banda disclosed that the three mother bodies had been meeting to come up with a roadmap for the dialogue and that they would be meeting again before soon.

He called on political players and all stakeholders to be patient and let the church seek spiritual guidance on the matter.

Bishop Banda, who is also senior pastor of Northmead Assembly of God Church, emphasised the need for the three church mother-bodies not to be rushed so that they could come up with something which would deliver the desired results.

“We are aware that there are concerns in terms of what is being considered such as the pace and so on.

But I believe it is important that we give our leaders in the church sufficient time to do this in a manner that will deliver that purpose.

“As the NHoP we are in full support of the steps being undertaken by our leaders in the three main church mother bodies. We are aware that even this very week there are meetings planed,” he said. Bishop Banda emphasised that people should let the church mother bodies conduct the national dialogue in the best way possible.

The ruling Patriotic Front and opposition United Party for National have both demanded for the dialogue process to begin, saying that it was long overdue.
