PF adopts Sensio Banda as Kasenengwa by-election candidate
FOLLOWING extensive deliberation the PF central committee considered the 17 names of aspiring candidates who applied for Kasenengwa constituency and has adopted Sensio Banda as its secretary general Davis Mwila has announced.
And Mr Mwila said the party was expecting all those who had applied to contest the Kasenengwa seat on the PF ticked to remain loyal by understanding that there can only be one candidate at any given time.
Mr Mwila said this yesterday in Lusaka when he unveiled Mr Banda as the party's candidate.
The Kasenengwa by-election has been prompted by the death of PF's Victoria Kalima.
Mr Mwila said there is need for PF members to move together as a team to ensure victory.
He explained that the central committe settled for recommendations from the grassroots because it was about them.
"We therefore, urge all aspiring candidates to emulate the spirit of the 31 Lusaka mayoral candidates who regrouped and moved as a team after the adoption of Lusaka Mayor Miles Samoa," Mr Mwila said.
He said the party was aware that the opposition was waiting like cultures to entice those that were not adopted
Mr Mwila recalled that the ruling party did not see any independent candidates in the recent Lusaka Mayoral race adding that the party was expecting the same in Kasenengwa.
The PF SG said the party was aware waiting like vultures to entice those that were not adopted.
And the PF executive officer added that the party expected a violent free campaign as no member will be protected if they engaged in violence activities.
The by-election in Kasenengwa Constituency has been necessitated following the death of the incumbent Member of Parliament Ms. Victoria Kalima on 15th June, 2018. The vacancies in Kamalamba, Liyovu, Mabili, Nkeyeuna and Shikobwe wards are as a result of resignation of councillors.
