Teachers’ part-payment fees initiative hailed
THE Teaching Council of Zambia (TCZ) has been commended for allowing teachers to pay towards their practicing licences in installments.
North Western Province National Union for Public and Private Educators of Zambia (NUPPEZ) chairperson Davison Mandela said in an interview that the union welcomed the move by TCZ to allow teachers to pay towards their teaching licences in installments.
"We have welcomed the move by the Teaching Council to allow our teachers to pay for the practicing licences in instalments because it will lessen the burden of paying off the fees at once," Mr Mandela said.
He encouraged teachers to obtain the forms so that they be forwarded to PEMIC deduct.
He encouraged teachers in the private sector to take keen interest in obtaining practicing licences so that they could be registered with the TCZ.
He said regulation of the teaching fraternity would come with so many benefits.
He said the union appreciated TCZ ‘s statutory mandate of regulating teachers, their practice and professional conduct as well as provide for the accreditation and regulation of colleges of education.
He said he was optimistic that the renewal of teachers’ practicing licences by TCZ would bring sanity in the teaching profession.
