CHILANGA town council has confiscated a cow which was found with tuberculosis from Kachema abattoir in Chilanga district, council secretary Mumbi Chocho has said.
Ms Chocho said in a statement that the animal was confiscated yesterday morning after a routine inspection by the council at various trading points in the district.
Ms Chocho further disclosed that the council on Tuesday also confiscated 6x 250g tins of custard and 7x2.5kgs of brown flour which were expired products from a grocery shop called “It Is Well” in Katandabale market.
She appealed to all Chilanga residents to be vigilant and ensure that they bought products which were safe for consumption as stipulated by law.
She said the council had also taken measures to ensure that the health and safety of Chilanga residents were protected.
“The town council recently mounted 10 bins across the central business district in a bid to ease waste management and collection in the district.
“This is in line with the re-launched keep Zambia clean, green and healthy campaign by his Excellency, President Lungu,” Ms Chocho said.
She urged all stakeholders and Chilanga residents to keep their surroundings clean by making use of the waste bins which had been placed in different locations to keep the district clean.
