Kang’ombe appeals for patience
KITWE Mayor Christopher Kang’ombe has assured motorists and Kitwe residents that road rehabilitation in the Central Business District (CBD) will start soon because all the necessary consultations with stakeholders have been concluded.
Mr Kang’ombe said the local authority had to engage stakeholders in the district before the works could start because of the inconveniences that they may go through during the road rehabilitation works in the CBD.
The Kitwe Mayor was reacting to concerns by some motorists over the delay to commence the road rehabilitation works in the CBD after all the consultations with stakeholders had been concluded.
He said in an interview yesterday that Kitwe residents should not get worried about the delay to start road works in the CBD because once the works start, they will move at a fast rate.
“Road rehabilitation works in the CBD will start soon, but I cannot tell you how soon. So motorists should not get worried about the delay. When works start, they will move at a fast rate. He said Kitwe will have better roads which residents would be proud of.
“The last meeting we had with various stakeholders was very progressive because the chamber and other stakeholders agreed that while they will be inconvenienced during road rehabilitation works, they will enjoy driving on a smooth road.
“So we will be looking for that form of cooperation when the contractor moves on site, any time soon. I can assure you that Kitwe will have better roads after the road rehabilitation works,’’ he said.
