Lusambo promises more surprise duty calls
I WILL conduct more surprise visits to government departments in Lusaka to ensure residents are receiving timely and best services, says Lusaka Province minister Bowman Lusambo.
Mr. Lusambo urged public employees to conduct government work as if it was their own by being patriotic to the development of Zambia.
He said it was important for government workers to run with President Edgar Lungu’s vision which was for improved service delivery.
The minister said this in Lusaka on Wednesday when he made impromptu visits at RTSA Lumumba and Dedan Kimathi offices as well as the Department of National Registration, Passports and Citizenship (DNRPC) and Intercity bus terminus to check on their operations.
Mr. Lusambo said President Lungu has been having sleepless nights to see how he could make Zambia a better place to live in.
“President Edgar Lungu means well for Zambia and it’s up to us as a team to support him. You should take it upon yourself to do government work as if it is your own and yes it is because Zambia is for all of us,” he said.
He encouraged workers at the DNRPC to simplify as much as possible the process to acquire birth certificates by for citizens so that department became a one-stop centre for the services.
He observed that poor service delivery which was characterised by long queues could be a conduit for corruption as clients would prefer to bribe someone to void spending the whole day in a queue.
