Mazabuka-Kafue Road repair works impress DC
MAINTENANCE works on the dilapidated Mazabuka-Kafue Road have started in earnest following the release of K10 million by government to cover the costs, says Mazabuka District Commissioner Jane Chirwa.
Ms Chirwa has since thanked government for releasing the funds which she said was a good gesture that had excited many motorists who used the road. Speaking in a telephone inter
view with the Daily Nation, Ms Chirwa said that the money had come at a right time and the contractor was already on the site to do the needful.
The DC said the contractor, Nyatsi Construction had since started working on some portions of the road after the release of the K10 million by government.
She appealed to the company to do a good job to lessen the challenges motorists were facing on the road. “Yes I can confirm that the money has been released to the contractor and my appeal to contractor is to do a good job so that motorists and other road users can appreciate what Government is doing,” she said.
Last week, minister of Housing and Infrastructure Development Mr. Ronald Chitotela announced Government had released K10 million Kwacha for maintenance of the same road as a short term measure.
He said full rehabilitation works would start as soon as procurement process of additional funds which has reached an advanced stage, has been completed.
