Beware of mercenary CSOs - Mumbi
GOVERNMENT must be aware of disgruntled leaders of some civil society organisations (CSOs) sponsored by the opposition and their international allies to destabilize Zambia through their defamatory campaigns, Edward Mumbi has warned. Mr. Mumbi said it was sad that some politically-charged CSOs and international organisations accredited to Zambia were conspiring to destabilise the nation by making vague and alarming statements to project a bad image of the country. Mr Mumbi said while CSOs were supposed to be partners in the development of the country, some had partnered with opposition political parties and were scheming to bring down a legitimately elected government under the disguise of providing checks and balances. “When you look at some of these so-called leaders of CSOs who have continued to attack government, you can even tell which political parties they support, “Some of them even resigned from their CSOs before the 2016 elections with the hope of being adopted by opposition political parties. They are frustrated and are now venting their anger on PF,” said Mr He wondered how such people with a bad record could provide credible checks and balances when they were also driven by greed and hate. Mr Mumbi said Government should be careful with such people because they could drive the country into chaos. He said there were a lot of development challenges that the CSOs could concentrate on instead of backing opposition political parties. He advised CSOs to refrain from activities that could destroy the good image and heritage of Zambia.
