MPANDE GIVES BACK

CELEBRATED Southern Province musician Mpande, well known for his mesmerisin­g Tonga tunes took time to feed the underprivi­leged.

Mpande, who is based in Choma spent last weekend at a children’s orphanage, Nest donating assorted items he had lobbied including food items.

Well known for his hit songs such as ‘ Nchelele chelele’ and ‘ Ikapaale’, Mphande explained that reaching out to the underprivi­leged and sharing in any small way had become his passion.

He thanked God for the favour rendered on him.

“I'm just human who is leaving through favors from people. I don't have the money to give but I have what God has given me for free in order to raise money for someone,” he said.

He added what he did was not want to show of but that it was his way off relating with the underprivi­leged.

Mpande, whose real names are Emmanuel Mpande said that the underprivi­leged also needed support and a warm hug to remind them that they were not abandoned.

He thanked companies and individual­s that helped, which include Choma Hotel, Kings Centre, and Sports Bar, Mr Dan Mulenga, Lions Club Choma and Byta FM for coming in to support the initiative.

Apart from having lunch with the children Mpande and the corporate partners donated among other items, bathing soap, detergent paste, baking Àour, lotion, 9aseline, glycerin, sugar, salt and cooking oil valued at K1700.

Mpande has since pledged be giving 20 percent of his income to charity.

“I'm not special or neither do I have the money. Any other person can do what I just did but to make it big, we need to join hands and work together,

“I also live because other people are able to share with me so I feel that I can pass on the favour to the less privileged as we don't know what tomorrow brings,” he said.
