MKUSHI YOUTHS APPEAL FOR HELP
Mkushi youths have appealed to government to empower youth clubs so as to promote entrepreneurship. Mkushi District youth Coordination Committee coordinator Bright Mumba made the appeal in an interview with the Daily Nation. Mr. Mumba said empowering selected viable youth clubs was one way of promoting entrepreneurship among youths and reducing unemployment. He noted that, if vibrant clubs were financially and materially supported, they would become self reliant as well create jobs for others. Mr. Mumba who is also president for Strategic Y outh Organisation (SY O) further noted that Zambia has youths with viable business ideas but they were not supported and as a result they fail to achieve their goals in life. fi We have a number of youth organisations, starting from here in Mkushi that are doing fine but lack financial and moral support. We have those in manufacturing of cooking oil, Carpentry and other skills such as agriculture with good strategic plans. They are resultoriented and we have seen their products but no leader has taken interest to try and see how they can be boosted,fl Mr. Mumba said. Mr. Mumba added that, there were also youths graduating from other skills training centres but no one has taken interest to assist them with start up capital apart from blaming them. The youth leader further said, youths should be empowered economically so that they become entrepreneurs not always blaming them. Adding that, of course there were those indulging themselves in unprofitable ventures due to frustration and lack of support but not all of them. fiTry them with capital and equipment, results will be seen,fl Mr Mumba said.
