Rufunsa commends Esther Lungu Foundation Trust
By NATION REPORTER THE Esther Lungu Foundation Trust has been praised in Rufunsa for its continued efforts in helping Government uplift the living standards of the vulnerable in society. Chieftainess Shikabeta of the Soli speaking people of Rufunsa District said she appreciated the support it was receiving from the Trust which was improving the wellbeing of the people in her area. She was speaking at the donation of a generator to Shikabeta Secondary School by the Trust yesterday. Chieftainess Shikabeta said the donation had come at the right time as it will help pupils have access to computers and also studying at night. The chieftainess said that the first donation of solar power panel at the rural health centre in her area had improved health service delivery to communities. fiWith this facility the health centre is able to store drugs and attend to patients properly even when they visit the centre in the night,fl she said She however appealed to other well-wishers to emulate the Esther Lungu Foundation Trust by extending their help to remote areas so that development was enhanced in all corners of Zambia. Chieftainess Shikabeta thanked Government for upgrading Shikabeta Primary School as that had reduced the long distances that children travelled to access secondary education to schools outside her chiefdom. She however appealed to Government and other wellwishers to help build staff houses at the school as teachers were forced to share accommodation. And speaking on behalf of the Trust board trustee, Annie Kabayi said her organisation would continue to stand with vulnerable people to enhance development rural parts of Zambia. Ms. Kabayi said the efforts being made by First Lady Esther Lungu to empower communities especially women and girls, adding that the trust would continue to have a bias towards education because it was a cornerstone for development. Apart from the donation of the generator to the school, the Trust also donated foodstuffs such as mealie meal, rice and sanitary facilities to the pupils.
