Planning children’s future critical - PS

-

By NATION REPORTER IT is time to critically look at the future of children especially those under the age of five years and plan their future for the next 20 years because Zambia’s future is in their hands, Central province permanent secretary Chanda Kabwe has said.

Speaking during the launch of the Central province Investment Forum and Expo on Thursday in Chisamba, Mr Kabwe said Central province was hosting the event with the future of children, who make up 17% of the 1.3 million population of the region, in mind.

"The launch and hosting of the Investment Forum and Expo is looking at the future of Zambia and this is the children under the age of five years. We need to build a good foundation for them," Mr Kabwe said.

He also said the province was hosting the event to reduce the poverty levels currently standing at 56.5% in the region.

The Investment Forum and Expo was the answer to reduce the poverty levels, hence, the need for stakeholders to ensure they attracted investors to the province, he said.

Mr Kabwe said the agenda of a better future for the country began with initiatives such as the Investment Forum and Expo.

H, therefore, called on both the public and private sectors to work as a team in order to achieve the 7NDP goals and prepare a better future for children as leaders of tomorrow.
