Mkushi traditional leaders hail new school
THE construction of Milombwe Day Secondary School has cheered traditional leadership in upper Lunsemfwa ward in Mkushi. Chief Chitina advisor Gibson Mukosha said the move was in the right direction for promoting education and development for all. Mr. Mukosha further said the construction of the school was a milestone and would go a long way in reducing illiteracy levels and early marriages that had become a big challenge to the community. Speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation, Mr. Mukosha noted that the new secondary school marked the beginning of development of the area as it would induce the development of other infrastructures in health and security sectors. He said that the development would also create employment opportunities for the local people and improve their livelihoods. “As a traditional leadership, we are grateful to government under the able leadership of President Edgar Lungu for considering the construction of a modern day secondary school in our area. We also thank the education and district administration for making Milombwe secondary School become a reality,” Mr. Mukosha said. Mr. Mukosha further advised parents to take advantage of the situation and take their children to school to promote their right to education. The traditional leader also urged the community to guard the infrastructure jealously for their benefit by avoiding any form of vandalism. Government, through Zambia Education Enhancement Project (ZEEP) has sourced funding from World Bank to facilitate construction of the secondary school.
