Police post construction elates Chief Ishindi

- By NATION REPORTER

SENIOR Chief Ishindi of the Lunda speaking people of Zambezi has praised the government for constructing and completion of the Mukanda Nkunda police post in the area.

The traditional leader noted that the infrastructure was the first of its kind not just in Zambezi but the whole province.

He said the coming of the police in the area will enhance security in the area.

“This shows government’s commitment of ensuring that there is total security in the area for the protection of property and life,” the traditional leader said.

He was speaking when Foreign Affairs Minister Joe Malanji called on him at his palace over the weekend.

He appealed to the people in the chiefdom to be cooperative with police officers that will be deployed in the area.

The traditional leader thanked government for connecting the province and Zambezi district in particular to the national electricity grid.

He said the development has started attracting investment in the area.

He however appealed to government to electrify government institutions that have not been electrified.

“The challenge is some schools, health posts and other government institutions have not been electrified yet the power grid passes just on top of their roofs. So, through you we want to ask that those institutions that are along the road be electrified so that they start getting the benefit of the project,” he said.

Senior Chief Ishindi also wanted to know how far AgloAmerica has gone with copper explorations in the area.

He said the international mining company has been conducting explorations for the past three years but no results have been availed to the public.

And Mr Malanji said President Edgar Lungu wants development that will leave no one behind including traditional leaders.
