- By NATION REPORTER

RESIDENTS of Raphael Chota ward in Mandevu constituency, have been assured of havi ng a new police post as well as other social amenities.

Speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation, Joseph Tamba, the area ward councillor said he was happy that with the support of the Lusaka City Council, he would bring to reality a modern Police post, terraces and ablution blocks.

He said a modern Police post at Kabanana cite and service was being built using the 2014 Community Development Fund (CDF) that had been set aside specifically for that proMect.

he explained that the proMect delayed because there had been no land for the project as a result, the authorities needed to relocate and compensate members of the surrounding area on which the police post was to be built.

“As you may be aware, we did not have enough land, so we had to relocate and demolish the neighbouring structure ‘women’s club’. We compensated them with about K50, 000 for the land which we needed for the Police post,” he said.

He explained that the initial contractor that had started the proMect failed to finish bXt /&& had recently awarded another contractor to complete the work.

He said the facility would enhance civic trust and help maintain social order by reducing crime and making the community safer.

Mr Tamba said Government was also putting up modern terraces on the Chipata football pitch to improve the quality of sports facilities in community.

He said though funds were not enough to complete the facility the proMect woXld be done in phases using resources that would be available.

Mr Tamba further said an ablution block would soon be built at Chipata Community Hall in a bid to maintain good sanitation.
