Mother disowns UPND Nkenyauna candidate
… as brothers face off in the election
UPND candidate in Nkenyauna local government by-election, Kipaila Matolokoshi, has been disowned by his biological mother.
The Nkenyauna by-election is being contested by two biological brothers Kipaila Matolokoshi standing as UPND candidate and Kilan Matolokoshi who is the young brother for the PF ticket, respectively.
In an interview with the Daily
Nation, the mother to the two candidates Ireen Matolokoshi said the family had settled to support the young brother by virtue of him standing on the ruling party ticket.
She disclosed that the elder brother was advised not to stand against his young brother but went against the advise of the family.
"So, for going against the wishes of the family, we have also decided not to support him as a family," Ms Matolokoshi said.
She said development in the area can only be realised when people learn to work with the government of the day.
There were, she said, many challenges the people of Nkenyauna were facing which needed to be addressed.
"And this can only be done if we the people voted for the PF candidate because he will be a direct link to the central government," she said.
She called on the people of Nkenyauna to rally behind Kilan Matolokoshi and give him the much needed votes in next month's polls.
