Chumbwe eyes top PF post

- By NATION REPORTER

FORMER Lusaka Patriotic Front provincial chairman Geoffrey Chumbwe has announced his intension to contest the position in the intra-party elections to be held in September claiming that his participation will add value to the party.

Speaking at a media briefing in Chongwe yesterday, Mr Chumbwe said he would use his political experience to ensure that the PF grew because Lusaka Province was a mirror for the country and the party.

He said Lusaka required branding to attract technocrats, business community, and the ordinary people including marketeers.

People should not fear to join the PF because it was a party for all Zambians and its growth depended on the number of people recruited, he said.

Mr Chumbwe who is Chongwe Mayor, said he was ready to work both for the people and the party once given the mandate because he knew most challenges affecting people especially women and youths.

He said he would continue paying allegiance to President Lungu and the party leadership.

“I have declared that I will be contesting in PF provincial chairmanship elections which are coming soon. I have decided to contest because my participation in these elections will add value to the party and I will be participating in the campaigns when the time is right,” Mr Chumbwe said.
