State to set up 163 communications towers in N/West

Mr Mushimba GOVERNMENT is delivering 163 communication towers to North-Western Province under the GRZ Towers project, says Transport and Communication Minister Brian Mushimba has said.

Mr Mushimba says Government was committed to ensuring the development of infrastructure for Roads, aviation and telecommunication in the country and in particular the North-Western Province.

He was speaking at the weekend in Solwezi when he launched the Messengers communication tower.

“It is for this reason that the past few days I was in the company of President Edgar Lungu inspecting progress on various projects including the Chingola-Solwezi Road,” Mr Mushimba.

He said Government through his Ministry was committed to giving every citizen access to reliable and affordable communication services across the country through the GRZ towers project.

“This is also in line with Government’s decision to prioritise the development of ICT infrastructure for improved service delivery and a Smart Zambia,” he said.

And Solwezi District Commissioner Rosemary Kamalonga commended the government for embarking on robust infrastructure development in the district.

She said the people of Solwezi were happy with the various developmental projects being implemented in the district.
