Livingstone residents demand better services

…they claim the local authority is offering them below par services

- By NATION REPORTER

LIVINGSTONE residents have demanded for improved services from Livingstone City Council which they claim are unsatisfactory.

The residents made their demand known yesterday during a Radio Mosi oa Tunya phone- in programme which featured the council’s public relations manager Mr Melvin Mukela.

The residents charged that the local authority was failing to provide better services which it was mandated to deliver.

They accused the council of not doing much for the people of Livingstone.

Mr. Mukela had a tough time to defend the local authority's alleged failure to provide acceptable services to the community.

Most callers accused the council of failing to collect garbage in townships because it was allegedly only focusing on collecting refuse from the Central Business District.

But Mr. Mukela assured residents that the local authority was committed to providing quality services.

He has also assured the people that had applied for plots that the council was doing everything possible in ensuring that everyone was given what they applied for.

Mr Mukela also promised the people of Dambwa North residential area where roads were in bad state that the council would address their problem soon.
