Fake PF members warned

- By NATION REPORTER

THOSE masquerading as Patriotic Front (PF) members and holding dark corner meetings in their homes are being used by the opposition says, Mandevu constituency aspiring chairman, Sebastian Mulenga.

Mr Mulenga urged PF members to remain disciplined and respect those in leadership positions. He said this in Lusaka’s Raphael Chota Ward 22 on Saturday, during a party mobilisation exercise in support of President Edgar Lungu’s leadership. Mr Mulenga said he was aware of disgruntled people who wore PF regalia and were holding illegal meetings at night but were not genuine members of the ruling party. He called on the police to increase patrols in Mandevu constituency and deal with the illegal elements. “We are aware that there are people who wear PF regalia and are holding meetings at night but these are not our members but are being used by the opposition,” he said. He said Mandevu constituency chairlady, Chilando Chitangala who is Lusaka Deputy Mayor had allegedly stopped engaging women of the constituency and was absent at most party functions. But Ms Chitangala said she was aware that there were a lot of party in-fighting in Mandevu constituency and that she would not involve herself in such squabbles as she loved the PF. And Justin Kabwe Ward 21councillor, Teddy Mwaba said the growth of the party depended on expanding party branches. Mandevu constituency vice secretary, Lemmy Bwalya lashed out at doomsayers who alleged that Zambia had become ungovernable but he reiterated that the nation was in the safe hands of President Lungu. Mr Fredrick Mwitupa, who is Mandevu constituency aspiring youth chairman, prodded youths to come up with sound plans and that the party was protected in Mandevu and defend President Lungu’s name. Ms Erah Mutambo who spoke on behalf of the women said there was need to remain united and work together if the party would continue to grow.
