Ignore desperate politicians - AVAP

- By NATION REPORTER

OPPOSITION political party leaders should not use students to cause anarchy because consequences of such activities are disastrous, Anti-Voter Apathy Project (AVAP) Coppebelt Project Coordinator Poster Jumbe has said. Mr Jumbe has also advised students not to fall prey to fake promises of some politicians who want to use anything within their disposal to ascend to power. He said his organisation was disappointed that some opposition leaders were still wounded from the defeat of the 2016 elections and were now inciting students from institutions of higher learning to cause confusion in the country.

As a Christian nation, we may face a lot of challenges and temptations from the devil, but let us continue praying to God so that we maintain peace, unity and political stability. It is only with peace and political stability that development can take route

He was speaking in an interview in Kitwe yesterday. “According to the information we had received, one opposition leader addressed students at UNZA where he literally incited them to rise against the government. After the address, in the evening they rioted . “Very sad indeed because out of that riot an innocent girl died. So the death was caused by the politicians who incited the students to riot. If they had not rioted that girl would not have died ’’ 0r Jumbe said. Mr Jumbe said the death of that girl should be a lesson to students in institutions of learning not to listen to politicians who want to use them to cause confusion. He said students in learning institutions should not listen to politicians who want to use them as political tools because they will not benefit an\thing in doing so Mr Jumbe has since advised Zambians to ignore politicians who want to set the country ablaze through careless and irresponsible talk. Zambia, he said, was a blessed country which should continue to cherish peace and seeN *od’s guidance when faced with various challenges. “Zambia is a blessed country where we are free to talk to each other regardless of tribe. In other countries you cannot talk to somebody from another tribe openly. So let us not entertain the spirit of hatred and tribalism take over our country. “As a Christian nation, we may face a lot of challenges and temptations from the devil, but let us continue praying to God so that we maintain peace, unity and political stability. It is only with peace and political stability that development can take route,” he said Mr Jumbe also urged the church not to sow seeds of disunity, but to pray for peace, unity and political stability in the country.
