`Give title to Nkana Polo Club ex-workers’

- By NATION REPORTER

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu must act decisively on whoever is disobeying his order to give title to former Nkana Polo Club workers who are still in limbo over the land they were given as terminal benefits by ZCCM-IH, Wright Musoma has demanded. Mr. Musoma said he was disappointed that the people President Lungu had put in various positions to propagate his vision were letting him down by putting their interests first. He told the Daily Nation that it was disheartening that the exemployees of Nkana Polo Club were still in uncertainty over the ownership of the land they were given as terminal benefits long after they lost their jobs despite the Presidential intervention. “The Nkana Polo Club land wrangle has been in public domain for a long time. The most annoying thing is Kitwe City Council has continued changing goalposts over the matter, “They are either telling us the land is owned by ZCCM-IH or that it belongs to Government. Some of us thought that by President Lungu intervening in the matter, the issue would have been resolved by now,” he said Mr Musoma said those Government officials who had abrogated the presidential directive with impunity must tell the nation why. “The President must crack his whip on such individuals who do not realise that they are occupying those positions because of the same people who voted for the PF,” Mr. Musoma said. He said it was sad that while the President was working hard to make life better for all Zambians, there were people working against him. On Friday the affected families accused some government officials of trying to block the issuance of a title to their land despite President Lungu’s intervention in August this year where he directed Kitwe Mayor Christopher Kang’ombe and the Kitwe City Council (KCC) to help them. They claimed that some senior civil servants were all intent to block the issuance of the title deed to them for no apparent good reasons.
