‘Mosquito nets used for intended purpose’

We have been doing the monitoring of households on how they have been using the nets which were given to them. So far, we have discovered that people are using the nets for intended purposes — Mr. Mushe.

SEVERAL are now utilising residents mosquito in Livingston­e’s nets for their Nakatindi intended Township purposes. Previously, residents in the area were using the nets as garden barriers, fishing nets while others were using them as wedding dresses. This came to light when a team of Mournalist­s visited Nakatindi health centre on Tuesday. Malaria eliminatio­n chairperso­n at the clinic, Michael Mushe explained that so far, the government and its partners, the Churches Health $ssociation of =ambia CH$= and the $nglican Church have distribute­d more than 6, 000 mosTuito nets in Nakatindi catchment area which has a population of more than 13, 000 people. Mr. Mushe said malaria eliminatio­n agents that were trained by the ministry of health had done a good job in sensitizin­g the community. “We have been doing the monitoring of households on how they have been using the nets which were given to them. So far, we have discovered that people are using the nets for intended purposes,” he said. “The compliance is good and we have been receiving overwhelmi­ng support to the extent that we even get to their homes to see how they are using the nets,” said Mr. Mushe. He further disclosed that out of more than 1, 300 people who were tested for malaria, only 19 tested positive which mostly were travellers.
