Probe UPND ‘draft’, says clergyman

- By NATION REPORTER

“Zambia, is a Christian nation and we are governed by rules and Biblical principles and we want to develop good morals in our country. No one is above the law and those who are not above the law are just like any common Zambian,” Apostle Ndhlovu said.

ACLERGYMAN has called on relevant authorities to investigate allegations that the United Party for National Development (UPND) is mobilising ex-servicemen to counter State police and other security wings ahead of the 2021 elections. But a police source has revealed that some of the allegedly targeted ex-servicemen are not willing to be conscripted because of their horrifying experiences in war-torn countries where they had served on peace keeping missions. Bible Gospel Church in Africa (BIGOCA) Overseer Apostle Peter Ndhlovu says the allegation poses a serious threat to national peace and security and therefore should be treated with the seriousness it deserves. In an interview, Apostle Ndhlovu said Zambia is bigger than all politicians and the country’s peace and stability should not be risked by a few politicians’ selfish political interests. He said there is need for everyone to understand that Zambia is a Christian nation whose leaders are chosen by God. “If these revelations are true then I think the law must be firm. We cannot allow one person, because of selfish interests, to destabilize the peace that we have enjoyed for 54 years just for the sake of political ego. “Zambia, as a Christian Nation, we are governed by rules and we are governed by Biblical principles and we want to develop Biblical morals in our country. If it is true and it is proven true, then there are laws to follow and let the law visit those who are behind it. No one is above the law and those who are not above the law are just like any common Zambian,” Apostle Ndhlovu said. He said democracy and freedom have limits and that it is an insult to Zambian voters to incite them to rise against a legitimately elected government. “I have said it time and again that the UPND leadership should go back to the drawing table and find out where they went wrong. If their leader has been rejected by the Zambians all these years, he will still be rejected in 2021. “There is no shortcut in life. Follow the procedure, follow the rule, be obedient and you shall eat the good of the land, that is what the Bible says. In UPND there are leaders who have a proven track record of leadership and they are better than their president. “They just don’t have money but money cannot buy freedom, money cannot buy conscience and the Bible says leadership comes from God. He appoints the Kings and He brings the Kings down. If God has rejected him he should know that he is wasting his time because when God appoints you then you can lead the people. If you are outside God’s covenant with Zambia then he cannot appoint you because this is not a secular nation where anybody can lead. In a Christian Nation throughout the world you have to be a Christian for you to lead.” He said all politicians must know that they are not bigger than Zambia and that political parties come and go but government remains. “If people have not elected you accept it because politics is a game where there must be a winner and a loser. Please the entire UPND leadership sit down with your president may be you have a wrong president. Let them go to the convention and test their ability to lead.”
