Rebel PF members free to return - Lungu

- By NATION REPOTER

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has called on rebel Patriotic Front members to return to the ruling party and seek forgiveness. President Lungu said the PF would soon decide the fate of party members who were holding positions in other political parties but still claim to be PF. Mr Lungu challenged such members to decide where they wanted to belong. He said it was politically wrong for an individual, like the case in Bahati, to hold on to two positions, as leader of an opposition political party and stick to the constituency seat for the ruling party. Mr Lungu, however, said there was nothing wrong for such people to return to the PF and seek forgiveness. The President was speaking at Mansa Airport when he stopped over enroute to Lupososhi in Northern Province. President Lungu also urged party members to avoid violence and be peaceful at all times. And Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa thanked the President for visiting the province. He said the province was peaceful and that farming inputs had started arriving in the region. Meanwhile, PF Secretary General Davies Mwila said Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili was still a member of PF. Mr Mwila said Mr Kambwili could not, therefore, claim that he belonged to National Democratic Congress (NDC). Mr Mwila also said the ruling party was yet to write to Mr Kelvin Fube Bwalya to give him seven days within which to exculpate himself. He said the disciplinary cases of Mr Bwalya and Bahati Member of Parliament Harry Kalaba would be decided by the party’s central committee before the end of the year. And President Lungu has described the launch of the planting season in Mwinilunga as a success. Speaking upon arrival at City Airport in Lusaka, President Lungu said that it was gratifying for him to have launched the farming season in North Western Province. President Lungu reaffirmed government's commitment to accelerate agriculture development in the province and in Zambia as a whole.
