IN his usual embarrassing antics, National Democratic Congress (NDC) consultant Chishimba Kambwili at the weekend failed to brand his candidate Elias Simwinga in the ongoing Tunvwanganai’s local government by election in Solwezi. Dr Kambwili was in Solwezi trying to drum up support for Mr Simwiinga and held two public rallies which were attended by a handful of people. Instead of selling the NDC candidate, Dr Kambwili was busy accusing the government of being corrupt. Throughout the two rallies which were held at Kazomba and Kyawama markets, the visibly bitter Mr Kambwili made all sorts of allegations against government and President Lungu instead of campaigning for his candidate. He also failed to explain the NDC manifesto which angered the people that attended meetings. In the background, people could be heard hurling unprintables and leaving the venue in protest saying they came to hear what the NDC would do for the people and not insults. And reacting to Dr Kambwili’s sentiments, North western province PF chairperson Jackson Kungo wondered why Dr Kambwili came to the province just to insult President Lungu instead of campaigning for the NDC candidate. He wondered why Dr Kambwili is always criticizing the PF government and yet not too long ago was part of the same government. “He headed the ministries of Labour, Youth and Sport, Information and broadcasting, what positive contributions did he make in those ministries? Let him not take people for a ride simply because he is out of government,” he said. He also challenged Dr Kambwili to leave the PF as Member of Parliament for Roan constituency on the Copperbelt to see his popularity.
