Opposition a sham, says Bemba Chief

CHIEF Chikwanda of the Bemba speaking of Mpika District has charged that the current crop of opposition political parties is a sham and does not inspire confidence in the citizens because it was bent on spreading hate and falsehoods. The Chief said the opposition have failed to offer the much need checks and balances through on constructive criticism instead of spreading hate and falsehoods. Chief Chikwanda said the type of politics being practiced by the opposition of lies and falsehood is a recipe for confusion in the country. ‘‘Leaders in opposition and those in government are supposed to sit and provide advise as opposed to criticising everything. And Chief Chikwanda has said law enforcement agencies should be tough when dealing with people that are fuelling confusion in the country through lies. Chief Chikwanda said the political tension being talked about was being perpetrated by few bitter, frustrated and disgruntled individuals who can be dealt with squarely in accordance with the provision of the law. ‘‘It is just the question of applying our laws and apprehend people that are fuelling confusions in the country through their lies and falsehoods. If veterans like Kenneth Kaunda, Fredrick Chiluba tested the law then who are those people that they cannot be dealt with. You know I always lauugh, what are you dialoguing for? Do we have a problem in this country? As far as am concerned there is peace in this country,” the chief said.
