No room for tribal talk in PF -candidates
TRIBAL talk is retrogressive and it should not be entertained in the ruling Patriotic Front, says Lusaka Province party aspiring chairman Kennedy Kamba.
Mr Kamba asked party members to vote for him as Lusaka Province chairperson, saying he had vast experienced having held the position of youth chairman since 2009.
He said this in Luangwa District on Saturday, when he addressed party officials that it was in difficult times that loyal members would be identified.
PF Luangwa district vice chairman Henry Tembo endorsed the candidature of Mr Kamba, saying he was a fearless leader who had served in the party for a long time.
Mr Tembo said the party in Luangwa desired to work with Mr Kamba because of his leadership attributes such as to mobilise the party.
And PF Lusaka Province aspiring youth chairman Daniel Kalembe said it was important to show respect to those in leadership positions.
Meanwhile, another aspiring candidate, Emmanuel Chilubanama, has asked the Party Leadership to expel those reportedly advancing tribal sentiments to avoid splitting the party.
Mr Chilubanama was reacting to tribal sentiments attributed to suspended Patriotic front Chongwe Publicity Secretary Maxwell Chongu. Mr Chongu has apologised for his remarks implying that the Lusaka PF seat should go to a Soli because this was Soli land.
But Mr Chilubanama said tribal remarks had potential to divide the Party and the nation at large hence the need to take stiff action on perpetrators.
Mr Chilubanama however said the campaigns are going well so far and party members have seen the need for change in Leadership at Provincial level in order for the party to thrive.
